The New Gama Professional ULTRA Machines: here’s what I think as a barber

by Gugu – Beauty Advisor, The Hairdresser’s Magazine
My opinion after trying them all
Let’s be clear: the new Gama ULTRA are among the most complete and powerful clippers I have tried in recent years. But each one has its own soul. And no, they are not all the same.
I decided to test them all in the Salon, one by one. Below I explain the real differences, the pros and cons and what advice I recommend depending on the type of work you do.
🔧 The basis is common: motor, battery, feeling
Except for the T-BLADE, all ULTRA are equipped with the same 9300 rpm motor, super smooth and powerful.
They are all cord/cordless with lithium battery: quick charge in 120 minutes and continuous use for an hour and a half.
The grip is excellent, the weight is well balanced. Charging is done via USB, so it is also perfect for those who travel or work in a mobile studio.
🟦 ULTRA FADE
For perfect shades, without tearing
- Standard DLC coated blade (hard and durable)
- 5 adjustments (0.8 → 2.9 mm)
- 6 risers (1.5 to 13 mm)
👉 I recommend it to those who work a lot with fade and taper, especially for young customers and clean short cuts.

🟪 ULTRA SKILL
More aggressive, more precise
- F-Wedge blade (more defined profile for extra precision)
- Same adjustments and risers as the FADE
👉 It is the most technical: I recommend it to experienced barbers who love to finish every detail and demand millimetric cuts.

🟩 ULTRA SMOOTH
Soft, natural, elegant cut
- Wedge blade, sweet but effective
- Excellent for medium/long male cuts or for those who want a “softer” touch
👉 Recommended for those who make old-school cuts or have clients with finer or more sensitive hair.

🟥 ULTRA ZERO
For near-skin shaves
- Balding blade, minimum height 0.4 mm
- Only 2 risers (1.5 and 4.5 mm)
👉 If you are looking for a “zero” effect, from skin fade or head shaving, this is perfect. Be careful: you have to know how to use, plus size!

🟨 ULTRA T-BLADE
The precision trimmer, very light
- T-blade for contours, beard and details
- 0.2 mm minimum cut
- Only 193 grams!
👉 I use it on beards, lines, drawings. Super light and easy to handle, perfect even for those who are new to finishing.

📌 My final advice
🔹 If you’re a perfect shade barber: go FADE or SKILL
🔹 If you are looking for versatility and comfort: SMOOTH for life
🔹 For zero or strong shaves: ZERO, but be careful with the hand
🔹 For beard and details: T-BLADE is your trimmer
