A salon does not need to do everything. It needs a method.
The problem in many Italian salons is not a lack of talent. It is the way the work is organized.
The team answers the phone while working, changes appointments, handles complaints, posts on social media when there is a spare minute and tries to keep every client happy. The salon may be busy, but the owner remains exhausted and the margin does not grow enough.
Doing more is not the same as working better
A salon becomes stronger when the important activities have a clear place and a repeatable process.
A method reduces improvised decisions and makes good work easier to repeat.
The MDP four-step method
- Observe: measure what really happens for seven days.
- Choose: identify one priority problem.
- Standardize: create a simple procedure the whole team can follow.
- Review: check the result after thirty days.
The goal is not to turn a salon into an industrial chain. A salon should remain personal and creative. But creativity needs a reliable structure if it is going to last.
My view
Professionalism is not only technical skill. It is also the ability to offer a consistent client experience, explain the value of the service and keep the business working when the owner cannot control every detail.
Choose one process for the next thirty days: consultation, appointment management, maintenance proposals or inactive-client recovery. Write a five-line procedure, use it every day and measure the result.
A salon does not need to do everything. It needs to do the things that matter well and consistently.
