Hair Reconstruction Prices in Italy: MDP Data from 178 Public Price Points
How much does a professional hair reconstruction service cost in Italy today? MDP Outlook analysed public salon prices, online service menus and booking platforms. The economic benchmark includes 178 comparable observations across more than 13 Italian areas.
The market is clearly established, but still fragmented: the median price is €30, while the average is €35.96. Comparable prices range from €8 to €95.
The key numbers
- €30: observed median price.
- €35.96: observed average price.
- 41%: share of observations below €30.
- 25.2%: share priced at €50 or more.
- €20–39: the densest price band in the observed market.
These numbers are not a recommended salon price. They are a benchmark of the market that is publicly visible online and help explain how reconstruction services are named, packaged and valued.

There is no single “reconstruction” category yet
Italian salons use many different terms: reconstruction, deep reconstruction, molecular treatment, filler, bond, Plex, repair treatment, protein, lipid and acid-based services.
To make the benchmark meaningful, the MDP Method separates professional repair services from long-lasting smoothing services such as nanoplasty, straightening keratin and some Botox/lissage treatments.
This language fragmentation matters. Clients may not immediately understand what they are buying, while salons need to explain benefit, duration, technology and the difference from a standard cosmetic treatment.
Why one salon charges €20 and another €70 or €90
The difference is not explained by geography alone. Service duration, product quantity, consultation, blow-dry inclusion, declared technology, salon positioning and the strength of the associated brand all play a role.
In the observed market there is both an accessible €10–25 band and a premium €50–90 area where the service is positioned as a more complete or specialised experience.

When the brand becomes part of the service name
Another relevant finding is the presence of brands directly in salon menus. Public sources reviewed by MDP include names such as Olaplex, Davines, Nashi, Joico, Redken, Wella, Kérastase and L’Oréal.
This means the brand is not always invisible behind the chair: it can become part of the value perceived by the client.
For professional companies, product, education and service communication can therefore become more valuable when salons receive a clear naming system, an understandable benefit and ready-to-use material for websites, booking platforms, Instagram and WhatsApp.
Price alone is not enough
A €25 treatment may be sustainable in a fast, high-rotation model. A €60 service may make sense when it requires more time, diagnosis, product, styling and consultation. Comparing prices without service structure can be misleading.
The external benchmark should be read together with the salon’s hourly chair revenue, costs and positioning. Market data shows what is happening outside the business; internal numbers show whether the service actually produces margin.
MDP Method: what was measured
The MDP Outlook pilot has a target perimeter of 250 digitally observable salon profiles. The economic benchmark used here is based on 178 comparable public prices, observed on 13 September 2026.
Sources include official salon websites, public price lists, service menus and booking platforms. Observations were deduplicated by salon and minimum “from” prices were normalised.
Verified areas include Milan, Turin, Bologna, Rome, Naples, Bari, Florence, Palermo, Genoa, Verona, Brescia, Bergamo and Cagliari.
Methodological limit: this panel measures the digitally observable market. It is not a census of the entire Italian industry and does not estimate sell-out, real salon margins or national market shares.

Why this matters to professional brands
The reconstruction category has commercial space, but the opportunity is not simply to launch another repair product. The bigger challenge is to make the service easy to understand and easy to sell.
A short method, connection with colour services, home care, commercial education, clear naming and ready-made sales assets can matter as much as the technical formula.
This is the role of MDP Outlook: turning public market signals into useful benchmarks for salons, brands and distributors.
