Let’s be straightforward, because I truly believe this and it is the exact reason why I wanted this Championship to be built this way and no other: the next Italian Champion could be you.
Having a famous name doesn’t matter. Having a salon with 40 employees, a window in the city center, or a social media following built over years doesn’t matter. Only one thing counts: the talent you put into your hands every single day, working on the clients who sit in your chair.
This is why I wanted Hairstylist of the Year MDP: a Championship where technical and artistic work is evaluated for what it is, not for who signs it. Whether you work alone in a small town salon or run an established studio in a major city, you start from the exact same point. The rest is up to you and what you can do.
A Real Journey, Not a Showcase
The Italian Championship, Hairstylist of the Year MDP, is not a disposable contest. It is a structured journey across four phases—Municipal, Provincial, Regional, National Final—designed specifically to give every professional the space to emerge gradually, category after category, evaluation after evaluation.
Eight categories cover everything you can do: Women’s Total Look, Women’s Color, Women’s Cut, Women’s Styling, Men’s Total Look, Men’s Cut, Beard, and Avantgarde. You can register for a single category or multiple ones, depending on where you feel strongest.
And at the end of this journey, there is just one number: 8. Only 8 will become Italian Champions, one per category. Not one more.
No Shortcuts, Just Your Work
Not the hairstylist with the most Instagram followers. Not the salon with the most employees. You, if your technical and artistic work stands up to a jury of professionals who evaluate only that—technical-executive quality, artistic research, project coherence, and professional communication. It is a fair, peer-to-peer comparison, category by category, where only what you bring to the table matters.
There are no shortcuts. There is no popularity algorithm to get you through. There is a National Artistic Commission that looks at your work and decides based exclusively on that.
How the Evaluation Actually Works
This is not a roll of the dice, nor is it a random draw. Every project that reaches the National Artistic Commission is measured against written criteria that are identical for everyone: technical-executive quality, artistic research and originality, project coherence, and professional communication. Each phase has a minimum score threshold to pass—registering is not enough; you must stand up to an objective standard, category after category.
This is what sets Hairstylist of the Year MDP apart from contests built on social media likes or public votes: here, professionals make the decisions based on the work itself, not on who has the most followers or years of business behind them. And it works both ways: those who do not pass a threshold in a phase will know exactly what to work on for the next edition. It is not a rejection without explanation; it is a clear standard from the very beginning.

Registration for the Municipal phase is open from today, August 10, 2026, until November 30, 2026. There is no need to wait until you feel “ready”—the journey itself, phase after phase, is how you test yourself.
Being famous does not matter. The size of your salon does not matter. Only what you can do with your hands matters.
